But first: What is stress? Stress is your body's natural response to a perceived threat or challenge, triggering a fight-or-flight response. Common sources of stress are work or school, relationships, financial issues, health concerns, major life changes (e.g., moving, getting married, or having a child). When the level of tress undermines your health, the results can go so far as to take away your zest for life.
To counteract these sources of stress, there are stress management exercises available:
1. Deep breathing exercises: Focus on slow, deliberate breaths to calm your mind and body. That's part of the art of simplifying your life!
2. Physical activity: Engage in regular exercise, like walking, yoga, or any activity you enjoy. Even 10 minutes a day makes all the difference.
3. Mindfulness and meditation: Practice mindfulness meditation, guided meditation, or simply take a few minutes to focus on the present moment on a daily basis. You can find countless meditation techniques. There's sure to be one or two to suit you. Be curious and do your research.
4. Time management: Prioritize tasks, set realistic weekly goals, and take regular breaks to maintain control and reduce stress (A break is the ideal time to do some stress management exercises).
5. Social support: Connect with friends, family, or a therapist for emotional support and stress relief.  It's often the facet of good overall health that we forget.  Yet giving and receiving love is the ultimate source of a fulfilling and abundant life.

8. Healthy eating: Fuel your body with a balanced diet rich in whole foods, fruits, and vegetables.
9. Leisure activities: Engage in hobbies or creative pursuits to distract yourself from stressors and boost mood. Personally, I love reading, painting, music, writing and cinema.
10. Seek professional help: If stress becomes overwhelming or persistent, consider seeking help from a mental health professional. Remember, everyone experiences stress differently, and it's essential to experiment with various techniques to find what works best for you.
