UNDERSTANDING THE INGREDIENTS OF THE FACIAL CLEANSER + MAKEUP REMOVER

Our long-awaited new product, the ultra-gentle facial cleanser + makeup remover, works like a charm. It gently and thoroughly cleanses impurities and even removes eye makeup thanks to its all-natural, health-conscious formula. Moreover, all our formulas are natural and eco-responsible, not tested on animals, and without the toxic ingredients that can be harmful to your health and the planet.

Although, LISA NOTO's list of ingredients can appear daunting, we thought we'd break down the scientific jargon of this simple list, which is designed to be  effective and promote well-being.

Coco caprylate: A very fluid emollient (substance that softens, soothes) often preferred as an alternative to volatile silicones. Coco caprylate is used in natural cosmetics, products for the face or body where softness is desired without shine or that greasy finish.

The pentylene glycol is a clear and viscous liquid, odorless and with a slightly sweet taste. It is a hydrophilic ingredient, which means that it binds well with water. This characteristic makes pentylene glycol an excellent ingredient for emulsifying and thickening products. In its role as a skin care agent: it keeps the skin in good condition; and it also acts as a solvent, which means that it dissolves other substances.

Pentylene glycol is usually derived synthetically; however, it was originally obtained from plant sources such as sugar beet juice. Extraction from natural sources is not particularly sustainable on a large scale, so most clean beauty brands, including LISA NOTO, synthesize this ingredient.

Polyglyceryl-6 caprylate/caprate is a stabilizing agent. It improves the ingredients or the stability of the formulation and the shelf life.
It is also a surfactant that reduces the surface tension of cosmetics and contributes to the uniform distribution of the product during its use.

Propanediol (1,3-propanediol) is a natural humectant, used in many formulations. It has excellent sensory characteristics and is environmentally sustainable. It can be made from the fermentation of corn sugar, or produced synthetically .
Propanediol (1,3-propanediol) and propylene glycol (1,2-propanediol) share the same empirical formula (C3H8O2), but their molecular structure is different.
The maximum concentration allowed in ready-to-use cosmetic preparations is 0.3%, which is the case in our cleanser formula.
Its functions?

Antimicrobial: Helps slow down the growth of microorganisms on the skin and combats the development of microbes.

Preservative: Inhibits the development of microorganisms in cosmetic products.

Arginine is one of those essential amino acids that our body cannot do without, especially for protein synthesis. It is, for example, used by the body to synthesize nitric oxide and creatine. Arginine is known, among other things, to promote hair growth. It functions as follows in our ultra-soft face cleanser:
Masking agent : Reduces or inhibits the basic smell or taste of the product.
Skin care agent: Keeps the skin in good condition.

Caprylyl Glycol is an alcohol derived from caprylic acid. It is found in the milk of certain mammals, as well as in palm and coconut oils. It is an effective humectant (retains water) and emollient (softens the skin) providing a unique sensation on the skin, it has an antimicrobial effectiveness and improves that of traditional preservatives. For these reasons, it is used in a multitude of cosmetic products.

Potassium sorbate is used in cosmetics as a preservative. It is often found in food (E202), in dairy products (yogurt, cheese …). This potassium salt of sorbic acid is naturally present in the Sorbier tree (wild tree). It is authorized in organic cosmetic use. It is both a preservative, which inhibits the development of micro-organisms in cosmetic products, and a masking agent: reduces or inhibits the basic smell or taste of the product.

Finally, our cleanser may contain fragrances that are always of natural origin, gluten-free and allergen-free, blends of natural aromatic extracts in vegetable oil. The recipe remains a secret.
